Brownsville Gateway Modernization Megaproject GSA Industry Day

On April 10, 2024, OFCCP’s San Antonio District Office (SADO) attended the GSA-sponsored Industry Day for the Brownsville-Gateway Modernization Megaproject, located in Brownsville, TX. The event was open to the public, allowing for anyone with interest in the project to come in and find out more information about it as well as where the project currently stands. The open invitation allowed for upwards of 80 individuals from different organizations to attend, including members from numerous Unions, as well as contracting firms (including a potential prime contractor), Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Southernmost College, local fire and security companies, and the Brownsville Public Utilities Board. SADO was also accompanied by a representative of the Women’s Bureau as well. The overall purpose of the meeting was to enable potential prime contractors to vet local resources, subcontractors and labor organization, to better develop a proposal to submit as part of the solicitation process.
