Second Chance Month Event

Description of Event
Please join the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) Southeast Region-Nashville District Office for a special Second Chance Month webinar, to be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM CST.

OFCCP will present on a variety of topics related to protected workplace rights, restrictions on the use of criminal background information in employment decisions, and on the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action laws enforced by the agency in an effort to build awareness among ex-offenders, community-based organizations (CBOs), and other external stakeholders.

The event will also include presentations from the State of Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons on available re-entry resources, from representatives for construction apprenticeship programs on the benefits of unionized construction jobs, and from other CBOs engaged in the important work of equipping ex-offenders with the tools they need to find gainful employment.

Attendees will:
• Learn about OFCCP’s Directive 2013-02, which provides information about the circumstances in which exclusions of applicants or employees based on their criminal records may violate existing nondiscrimination obligations.
• Learn about OFCCP resources for federal contractors, employers, stakeholders, and CBOs.
• Learn about other re-entry resources available at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Learn about potential hiring opportunities for ex-offenders through construction apprenticeship programs.
