Please provide a brief explanation of the concern, issue, or question you would like to address with the Ombuds.
My name is Naomi, I am an employee with a psychiatric disability. After three years at my job, recent changes at work have affected my ability to do the work. I have requested reasonable accommodation from HR, but they are very slow to respond and they are not inclined to make the changes that I require in order to succeed at work. HR is also investigating a report that I made related to workplace retaliation and stigmatizing action against me. I'm concerned that this investigation (which I did not request) is interfering with the accommodation process and will ultimately adversely affect the decisions.
What are your goals for working with the Ombuds?
I am having a crisis in the workplace and I need a neutral person who is knowledgeable about employment policies and procedures to explain what I can do, what protections are available to me and how to communicate with HR and and handle a hostile workplace. I am afraid I will say or do something wrong because I do not understand how to proceed.
As I said, I do suffer from mental illness and I am experiencing a setback in my recovery do to these escalating conflicts at work.

Please provide a brief explanation of the concern, issue, or question you would like to address with the Ombuds.
I am a disabled veteran, working as a contractor for the Army. In my agency, there are 3 contractors and 9 GS employees all performing the same duties. Recently, one of the three contractors was offered a GS position and accepted. The supervisor that opened the position has stated that they did not post the job and did not have to because the had "direct hire authority". I've since learned that DHA does not grant the authority to hire someone in lieu of allowing for other applicants to compete for the position. I have reason to believe that it was done this way to guarantee the position to the person whom it was offered, because the supervisor was well aware that I was interested in the position and the most recently fired contractor, was also veterans preference eligible and would have likely applied as well. The third contractor, inquired with HR about why it wasn't posted and did not receive an email response, however the next morning, the same supervisor called her and told her that it would "be wise not to continue asking questions" and that the raising a complaint "would go nowhere".
What are your goals for working with the Ombuds?
I have unsuccessfully found where I should take my issue. From what I have read online, it seems that the hiring process that occurred violates Prohibited Personnel Practices potentially, because it was not offered publicly, and no one was aware of the position except for the supervisor and the new-hire.
